Our story is really a story about the priorities in life we all face. Randy spent 27 years in the commercial and residential lending industry. Doreen, besides raising our 2 children, was a cosmetologist and still cuts hair today. In 2012, we decided it was time to pursue a dream.
Doreen and I had been vacationing in the Lake Ann and Traverse City area for more than 25 years so when the opportunity came about to purchase Sleeping Bear Resort, we couldn’t resist pursuing the opportunity. We sold our home in St. Clair, Michigan and permanently relocated to lake Ann, managed the resort during the summer of 2012, and became official owners on December 27, 2012.
We both appreciate everything the Traverse City, Leelanau Peninsula and Sleeping Bear Dunes region has to offer. We enjoy the outdoors during all seasons and we enjoy trying all the new restaurants, breweries, wineries and everything else there is to do up north.
Most of all we love being a host. We will do everything we can to help you and your family create memories of a lifetime during your stay at Sleeping Bear Resort.

Reservation Desk & Housekeeping
Stephanie has been in charge of Housekeeping at Sleeping Bear Resort since 2012. We are fortunate to have her on our team. The most common comment we receive from our guests is how clean the cabins are! Stephanie has spent several years in the housekeeping industry and has that attention to detail that sets Sleeping Bear Resort apart.
As of January 2019, Stephanie is our front desk clerk in charge of new reservations. We think you’ll really enjoy working with Stephanie while making your vacation plans.
Grounds, Maintenance, Repairs & Guest Services
Tom will be a retired middle school administrator as of June 2019. Tom, his wife Shelli, and their two children have been vacationing in Lake Ann since 1991 and Tom has been involved with Sleeping Bear Resort since 2012. You may have seen Tom on our “turnover crew” on Saturdays during the summer months. As of June 2019, Tom is officially in charge of all repairs and maintenance issues at the resort. Tom likes to keep busy so if you find anything that’s in disrepair or not working properly call Tom.
In addition to keeping the resort looking good and well maintained Tom will be in charge of guest services. You will see him regularly at the resort organizing day trips or giving advice on things to do in the area.
